New Chums Beach - a beautiful new zealand beach

by Linda Perie
(Australia)

New Chums Beach is a beach in the Wainuiototo Bay on the northeast coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand, near Whangapoua

It is beautiful. A bit of an adventure to get there as you have to cross a shallow lagoon and walk a little way along a jungle path to get there but it is so worth it.

Fantastic rollers on a good surfing day and great swimming In the Chrystal clear water, no matter what sort of day. The Pohutakawa's overhang the beach making great shady picnic spots and there are caves with fascinating sandstone rock walls for exploring.

We saw dolphin playing in the waves and spent the whole day body surfing in this beautiful sheltered bay.

If you go prepare for the day as there are no shops to grab a fish and chip lunch once your get there! You may find you have the entire place to yourselves as we did.

Google images of it - it's beautiful!
